Light to Medium Tackle Game Fishing – Year Round
Juvenile Black Marlin, Pacific Sailfish, Yellowfin Tunas, Spanish Mackerel, Mahi-Mahi, Wahoo, Cobia
The bluewater sportfishing and deep sea gamefishing off Cairns is generally excellent year round, providing great action and good eating!!
Before Cairns was recognised as the "Home to the Giant Black Marlin" more than 4 decades ago, it was an established fishing mecca for a huge variety of pelagic sportfish found in the surrounding cobalt waters.
The winter months (May to September) are best for targeting Spanish mackerel (king mackerel), sailfish and juvenile black marlin (up to 100lbs). The warmer months (October to March) provide good fishing for wahoo, mahi-mahi, yellowfin tuna, big Spanish mackerel (up to 100lbs), sailfish and black marlin (100 to 250lbs).
We use lures, live baits and natural dead baits. Preferred lures range from bibless minnows to minnow style bibbed lures for mack tuna, Spanish mackerel and other species.
For marlin and sailfish, preferred lures are of the pusher style, such as Moldcraft and Pakula. Live baits used are yakkas, trevally, pilchards, pinkies and gobbers. The most prominent dead baits used are mullet and gar fish (ballyhoo). These are extremely effective on all species.
Tackle consists of trolling rigs with line classes varying between 6 to 24 kg depending on the size of the species sought. Four to five rigs are trolled with 1 or multiple teasers.
Light tackle equipment consists of the highest quality Penn Reels with matching custom Jack Erskine light tackle rods in all line classes.
Our fishing grounds throughout our winter months are approximately 15 to 25 miles from Cairns and in our summer months between 15 & 35 miles. (Approximately 45 to 90 mins travelling each way).
CONFIRMATION OF BOOKINGS
It is essential that all bookings be confirmed by forwarding a holding deposit totalling at least 25% of the total charter cost. We require a further 25% payment 123 days prior to departure making a total of 50% paid at this time. The remaining 50% of the charter cost will be required 63 days prior to departure for all heavy tackle charters and 33 days prior to departure for all light tackle charters.
Bookings made less than 123 days prior to departure are confirmed with a 50% holding deposit and final payment paid 63 days prior to departure on heavy tackle charters and 33 days prior to departure on light tackle charters.
Bookings made less than 33 days prior to departure are to be confirmed with a 50% holding deposit and final payment paid 10 days prior to departure.
Bookings made less than 10 days prior to travel, full payment is required on confirmation of your booking.

CANCELLATIONS
All cancellations must be advised in writing ie: email, fax or post.

A total refund less an administration fee of $100 will be made on all charters which are cancelled prior to 123 days before departure.
Cancellations within 123 days of the departure date will only be fully refunded (less the administration fee) if this time can be re-sold.

With full day charters – 4 days notice must be given in order to receive a full refund (less administration fee). Unfortunately there is no refund offered if cancelled within the 4 days.

Once we receive your enquiry, we will contact you via phone or email, to advise of availability and confirm the final price is correct - and discuss payment options. A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation notice and at this stage the deposit is processed on your credit card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.
Please note we accept Visa and Mastercard and the credit card fees are:

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental, trip or charter services.
Amendments
Please check the terms of each vessel to see whether amendment fees apply. Please also note that for some vessels an amendment is treated as a new booking and the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). In the case of boat rental/yacht charter, if the hire or number of days is increased, an additional deposit may be required, while reduction in rental periods or price may reduce the total, but the deposit amount will remain unchanged.
Vessel Capacity and fitness to charter (for Bareboats only)
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vessel you charter is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of passengers allowed is indicated next to each vessel on this website. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A boat or trip supplier can refuse to hire a vessel to any person who is in their opinion unfit to skipper or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
