OVERVIEW

MV BILL'S versatility lends itself to cruising the Islands and Reefs of the GREAT BARRIER REEF. Our cruises appeal to those who don't like mass numbers sharing their space on our beautiful reef. On our personalised sole charters we take a maximum of 6 and devote our attention to showing off the best our beautiful reef has to offer.

We provide all the snorkel gear, towels, morning tea and a bountiful buffet lunch including seafood and champagne, beer and soft drinks. We can even arrange to have a dive guide or instructor and all the gear for those who wish to scuba dive, be it a certified diver or an intro diver.

Light Tackle
Whether you want to sole charter, share charter or liveaboard charter, fishing light tackle is an exhilarating experience! Let our friendly and experienced crew show you the way.

We use TLD 25's and 50's as well as Shimano Spin Reels with Custom Built Rods and a wide variety of tackle with names such as Moldcraft and Boss Lures. On all our charters, bait, tackle food and beverages are supplied.

From January through March anglers can expect to target Sailfish, Giant Trevalley, Spanish Mackerel, Yellowfin Tuna, and Wahoo. July through to September heralds the arrival of the Juvenile Black marlin.

For the angler wanting the thrill and adrenalin rush of catching a black marlin but not quite ready to sit in the chair and fight a 'grander' you can't beat the thrill of hooking up on a juvenile black. Sailfish, Wahoo, Tuna & Mahi Mahi etc are also prevelant in our waters of the Great Barrier Reef during these months. The rest of the year is predominantly suitable for members of the 'Razor Gang' - Spanish Mackerel & Barracuda as well as other pelagics such as Mack Tuna, Yellow and Bluefin Tuna.

Mixed Fishing
Cairns waters have an abundance of Reef fish (bottom feeding fish) and Sports Fish (Pelagics). Our Mixed days consist of a combination of both Reef Fishing and Light Tackle Fishing. Our day is designed to offer the anglers a mixture of Light Tackle in the morning and Reef Fishing in the afternoon.

This type of charter can be booked as a share charter or sole charter and some of the species of fish targeted are Spanish Mackerel, Yellowfin Tuna, Coral Trout, Nannigai and Red Emperor. Day trips leave the Cairns Marlin Marina at 8.00am and return at 5.00pm Extended charters can also be designed to suit the angler, based on sole charter.

MV BILL has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment in July 2002. She is fitted with twin 3208 Cat engines and cruises on 20 knots with a top speed of 25knots. She is of fibreglass construction and weighs in at 19 tons. Her deck is very beamy giving anglers ample room.

On extended charters she sleeps 4 anglers comfortably. The layout consists of One double bed in the forward private cabin, two single bunks in the centre, opposite a very roomy bathroom fitted with a full size shower, vanity and toilet. Two more single bunks in the saloon area. The crew sleep upstairs in the flydeck area.

For our guest entertainment CD, DVD, VCR, TV and Surround Sound will set the mood with the comfort of air-conditioning throughout. Ample refrigeration and freezer space are a plus and she is fitted with a water desalinator to ensure we have ample fresh water at all times. The galley is fully equiped with refrigerator, microwave oven, and gas stovetop. Bill is not lacking in the electronics department. With state of the art Sounder/Plotter, GPS, Radar and VHF/UHF radio, we are sure to find the fishing hot spots for our anglers.

OTHER INFORMATION

Company Profile
The operator is well renowned with the Cairns Game Fishing fleet and has been operating Deep Sea Game Fishing charters on the GREAT BARRIER REEF for many years. She has spent most of her game fishing days operating out of Cairns and further north along the Ribbons Reefs up to the Lizard Island and Ribbons Reef 10 area.

She operates all year round, specialising in Giant Black Marlin Fishing during the months of September through December and Light Tackle Sports Fishing year round for species such as Spanish Mackerel, Yellowfin Tuna, Trevalley and Barracuda. Popper Casting is very popular for enthusiastic anglers in search of Giant Trevalley. Juvenile Black Marlin and Sailfish as well as Mahi Mahi, Wahoo and Cobia are predominant in our waters in the later months of the year when the water is the perfect temperature.
The company is owned by husband and wife team, Rick and Margaret Eustace. Their two businesses work well together in offering anglers choices during their holiday to the far North, whether it is Deep Sea game fishing, Reef Fishing. River Fishing or Estuary Fishing, as well as other tours in relation to land or sea or adventure.

Rick has lived in Cairns for over 35 years which makes him a true 'local'. His local knowledge and experience has placed Billfish Sports Fishing in the category of one of the leading game fishing boats and agencies in Cairns. Both Rick and Margaret have a strong Background within the tourism industry and have been operating both businesses since 1999.

Where We Are
The Cairns city area itself is a long, narrow coastal strip edged between the Coral Sea and the Great Dividing Range. The area extends from Ellis Beach in the north to Russell River in the south, and covers more than 1600 sq.km.

Cairns local area includes Queenslands highest mountain, Mt Bartle Frere, and is the gateway to two of the world's greatest natural attractions and World Heritage listed treasures - the Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics rainforests. Mountains, beaches, tidal wetlands, freshwater lakes, mudflats, mangrove swamps, bays, rivers, estuaries, and rich coastal plains are the dominant features of this tropical environment.
