Night dives are a specialty.

There is never a rush as we gently introduce you to the underwater wonders of the reef. Meet our resident Maori Wrasse, blow bubbles with a turtle, or come face to face with nemo. Very low instructor/student ratio’s (often 1:1) mean you will receive amazing personal attention and care.
Like your dive and want a bigger challenge -
Coral Sea Dreaming is licensed by Scuba Schools International to conduct introductory night dives. Taking a maximum of only two divers, your instructor will show you to something very few people ever see – the changing of the guard as the day fish leave and the night shift come out to play. Please note, this option is only available to those who do at least one introductory dive during the day – so why not save money and do our 3 dive intro package. Include a night dive and be the envy of your friends back home.

TYPICAL 2 DAY/1 NIGHT TOUR-Up to 6 dives available
Day One
Board Coral Sea Dreaming at 0745, finger D12, Marlin Marina
Set sail to Cairns outermost reefs. Along the way we conduct introductory and certified dive briefings and a marine naturalist brief. There is plenty of time for passengers to mingle and relax, and get to know each other.
Arrive Flynn Reef (Alan’s Bommie), our first Outer Reef location. Depth up to 18 meters. Extensive coral gardens for snorkelers. Passengers snorkel or scuba dive (#1). Activities are followed by lunch.
Boat moves to Milne Reef (The Whale). Large bommie and reef flats. Depth up to 24 meters. Passengers scuba dive (#2), snorkel or simply relax in the hammock. A guided snorkel tour is also usually offered. Afternoon tea is served followed by a comprehensive reef brief for those who wish to learn more about what they have seen.
Boat moves to its next location on Milne Reef (The Three Sisters) and this is where we spend the night. The Sisters is one of Cairns most famous dive sites and offers unsurpassed night and early morning dives. Depths range from 6 to 36 meters. Passengers undertaking a night certified (#3) or introductory dive are briefed and taken diving. Dinner is served once activities are completed (during winter, dinner may be served prior to night diving). After dinner, passengers enjoy tea and coffee, a BYO (bring-your-own alcoholic) drink and tall tales.
Day Two
Awake to the dawn and watch the sun rise over the Coral Sea. Throw yourself into the warm tropical water and wake yourself up! This is the perfect time to do an early morning snorkel or scuba dive (#4) as the night fish depart and the early morning shift take their place. A brilliant time to see reef sharks, turtles and other pelagic species. Breakfast is served.
Boat departs to its next location for the day. Depending on conditions this is usually The Pinnacles. Dive (#5) large freestanding bommies in up to 30 meters of water with excellent snorkelling in the shallow coral gardens adjacent to the boat. Morning tea is served.
Boat travels to Thetford Reef (360 lagoon). Dive (#6) and snorkel our last anchorage. Lay back and enjoy some quiet time for sunbaking. Lunch is served before departure.
Upon departure the sails are hoist for the return trip to Cairns. It is very common to have dolphins surf the bow wave and during the winter months, see humpback whales. The emphasis on the journey home is to relax and enjoy each other’s company while regaling stories of the past two days. As we sail towards Cairns with the sun behind us, you will experience one of the most glorious aspects of Cairns – mountains on the left and right rising high above a beautiful city skyline as you leave behind one of nature’s greatest treasures.
Please note: While we have tried to describe a typical trip, our itinerary is reflective of weather conditions at the time. As we have access to a large number of exclusive moorings, we will always seek out the most comfortable locations therefore times and areas/reefs visited may vary.
Passengers are at all times consulted and briefed on what they would like to do at each site.

The operator is a true local and one of the few left in Cairns. The family owned company built its first catamaran in Cairns in 1987 with the simple aim of providing a fun trip to the reef. In 1997, we cut the boat in half and extended the length by 4 meters. The result was a faster more comfortable ride, with the added bonus of an extended range to access more reefs. Then, in 2003 the "new" boat was built. At 25 meters and built for speed, she revolutionised a day trip to the reef and provided a real alternative to travelling on a motor boat.

In the case of boat rental/yacht charter, if the hire or number of days is increased, an additional deposit may be required, while reduction in rental periods or price may reduce the total, but the deposit amount will remain unchanged.

A boat or trip supplier can refuse to hire a vessel to any person who is in their opinion unfit to skipper or does not meet eligibility requirements.
